Prologue:

Last year I decided to take EVA to HKG and this segment is the first flight of my return to SFO.

I took the HK Airport Express to the airport which is the quickest and most convenient way to travel between the city and the airport.

Arriving at HKG airport.

Of the 3 Star Alliance lounges in HKG UA is the largest one.

Interior.

The buffet consisted of hot and cold items salad bar noodles station and soup.

Plane at the gate.

Boarding commenced with group priorities respected.

Seat pitch.

At the beginning I sat by row 23 but when I saw that the second row was empty I asked the FA to change and she gave me her approval after boarding was completed. I sat in a window seat.

Take off.

I ordered a special meal and only VGML was available. The snack consisted of sandwiches with Chinese pickles. Bleh! One instance in which fusion food did not work.

Cruising.

Cabin.

Arriving in TPE.

I think we are using a remote parking.

Last look at the cabin.

I did some lounge hopping and visited the TG lounge also.

Interior was a bit more "colorful" than UA.

Summary:

This was an enjoyable short flight, but catering could be improved. I believe that the rest of the passengers received some pastries and slices of cake as the regular snack.

Yes, it's me Icare... I destroyed it. Without any possibility to rebuild it. I am V13 now:))

HKG lounges are interesting : with a high-standart-level when they were built. Not sure they make some progress.
I prefer this return flight. Less "lost in translation";)
Beautiful aerial views from airport and Hong kong during take off. you were lucky.

Change is good. ;)

Overall the lounges @ HKG are good. For *A the SQ lounge lacks windows so no views. TG one is small and the shower is inside the WC. UA is the best for a change.

The Oneworld lounges on the other hand are just great with the CX and QF ones.

I guess it pays to seat by the window when you arrive or leave from HKG.

A good short flight with a light meal but better than BA ?
Is the J cabin with recliner seats or the same as in y cabin?

Any free food is better than paid I guess. ;)

J cabin on this A321 consists of 2 rows with 8 seats in total and they are bigger recliner seats.

Always enjoy visiting the lounges @ HKG. I'm known for lounge hopping at another site and someone there called one of my reports a "lounge FR" :P
