Prologue:
Back to English for the flight back to LHR with MH. After my flight with RH and a night at Le Meridien linked to KL station, I left at 4:30 am to arrive by 5 in the airport.I was really looking forward to my trip with MH. Since the A380 will be replaced from next month to the A350, it was my last opportunity to try the First Class on the A380 before I try myself the new First on the A350.
I booked the trip for 140k avios and 120e. While MH operates 2 flights per day, I booked the morning flight to have 2 meal courses instead of 1 and breakfast, also on the night one, you spend most of your time sleeping.
The only issue with the morning flight is the lounge offer which I expected to be kinda poor versus lunch and dinner later in the day.
Did I make the right call ? Let's find out.
Prior to my flight I got a mail from MH asking me if I want to pick my main course and got the following choices. Unfortunately, I did not pay attention and postponed my call to the point I completely forgot… A mistake ?
I took the KL express since it's easy and fast to reach the airport.
30 min later I arrived.
I showed up at 5am in the First Class counter. So early that they were not ready.
She was very funny.
My boarding pass to LHR.
I cleared immigration and security very quickly and made my way to the lounge.
Train to the main terminal.
I reviewed the lounge many times
The so-called business center
The cold buffet
With salmon.
Smoking room.
I decided to take a quick shower.
I faced a dilemma here. Should I try the buffet and breakfast ?
I took a table and ordered one coffee. No more.
Since I did not eat I snapped the picture of the table next to me. They said it was great.

I left the lounge to the boarding gate. No priority line for premium passengers.

When I checked-in I was the only FC pax. It turns out I was not. No idea who she was. I was nevertheless warmly welcomed and escorted to my seat. Then the captain came to introduce himself. After a great conversation I requested to go to the cockpit. He was happy to show me the way.
It's not fully enclosed suite.
The cabin is 5 years old and features 8 First Class seats. The layout is 1-2-1. The seat is roomy. You can put away your clothe in your personal locker.

I was given a nice bag with a kit
I remained there for 10 minutes. I'm jealous not to have that kind of office on daily basis. It was great to talk with them.

At 11:30 Lunch was served. Before I start
Salmon to start
Bread basket came with my garlic bread.
Tom Yum soup was interesting but not as great as I would have hoped or tasted on TG.
Caviar to follow. Something I can eat everyday...

The palate cleaner
Then I ordered the beef. It was a bit well done and I was expecting a better presentation. The lack of sauce with the rice made the whole meal a little dry and bland.
The highlight of my lunch was without doubt the pistachio frangipane. To die for.
After my meal I asked the very good FA to make my bed. I collapsed 5 minutes after.
I woke up 3:15 hours before landing.
2 hours prior to landing dinner was served.
Satay to start. Yummy.
Salad of Teriyaki Salmon. Tasteless and spoiled salad. Much to my surprise
I also picked the Chicken tagine. Correct. I requested garlic bread which was served for my main.
To end my so-so meal I got the scones. Fair.
I then had the perfect office for 1h.
Then I enjoyed the view till touchdown.

Summary:
I don't know where to start:The lounge is being renovated which is a long overdue. It was my first visit in the morning. I won't say anything about the choices since I did not pick any.
The staff was great as always.
The flight:
Fantastic crew from both the pilots and FA.
My biggest disappointment came from the meals. Clearly far from First Class aside from the caviar.
If you have a FC ticket, you'd better off ordering from the menu given prior to your flight.
