Prologue:
Back in March TAP had a great fare out of DUB for 1200e to SFO to sample a new route and their new 330-900neo. TP is known for great fares from DUB, OSL or CPH.I booked the flight from DUB where I live. Cheap for the length of the flight compared to JFK for ex. The good thing about TP is the earning rate with my FFP MS where I collect 200% of the distance flown.
TAP was not the carrier of my dream but given the investment done over the past few years and taking delivery of new planes, it was worth giving them a shot, the fare paid sealed the deal + I will meet my dear Panda friend !
One thing I got to know after the booking was made, no lounge will be offered to TP pax out of DUB !
Yes, it sucks.
Never mind. I left the office at 2:15 and got to the bus stop 10 min after. For once it was hot too hot inside the bus while outside it was just a shy 22. Heatwave I’ve been told in the company and by my fellow colleagues. I guess we don’t have the same views on what a heatwave really means. The ride was a pain due to the traffic. Eventually we arrived at 3 pm.
ET counters
While I printed the BP in the office I went to the counter to get one with the TP stub. I got the BP for my flight to SFO.
I used the fast track and it was highly appreciated. Then I refused to pay 29e just to access a lounge that is quite bad. Instead I decided to watch Netflix on my phone until boarding. I also snapped few nice planes.
My A319 to LIS.
Boarding started with Business/Gold. First to arrive to get few pics.
For you my friend Seb.
Working !
Private jet
Enjoying the views from outside.
After a fast boarding despite the full flight we queued to take off. A so called dinner was served 45 into the flight. I pre-ordered the seafood meal… I’m… speechless on how appalling it was and how bland it was. No taste at all. I have to say that I almost got upset at me. I should have eaten in Burger King. At least It’s tasty despite not the best for my diet !

Summary:
The first leg of this trip makes me want to jump-off bridge (sort-of). Crew never smiled once and the catering was just edible. What’s good ? The price paid. Period.

WTF !!!
Thank you Thomas for the review. Hope it was just a one-off bad flight. Enjoy your trip to San Fran.

Salut Thomas.
Don't worry about any bad meals. We can always hit "In and Out" burgers anytime. ;)
Having no lounge access on a J tkt is unheard of. This has to be the only airline in the world with this situation. I'm speechless. Wait....on second thought AV in SFO is the same since they depart from Intl terminal A. All other *A carriers use terminal G where UA Polaris and UA Club are located.
Is that a J meal? seriously? Since you mention BK you know that here there is the "Impossible Whopper" made with 100% plants and no meat. If you want to try it......
Thanks for the TR and safe travels. Can't wait to meet you when you arrive.
Thanks Adan for the comment. Yeah not common. thanks god !
Thanks for sharing this TR

Nice beginning lol
"I used the fast track and it was highly appreciated"
OMG you're lucky that TP is paying for the fast track
" I’m… speechless on how appalling it was and how bland it was."
TU'SFML is much better... in economy lol
Well a bad flight : bad food, bad crew and nothing to make it better
I hope the next leg will be better
Yep not the best indeed.
Dreadful from A to Z!
Salut Thomas!
You've got to be kidding me. How on earth you don't provide lounge to J pax. Nothing to be happy with.
Thank you Thomas
Ouaf ! Thomas;)
Nice economy seat. And that's all (Folks;)
I never choose the first row, because of the pitch..Last one is better;))
Thanks for Sharing, Thomas
