Prologue:

I guess we can call this a nostalgic hotel report since I have stayed at the IC HK in 2013 and 2015 but on recent visits have preferred the IC Grand Stanford instead.

The Intercontinental Hong Kong on 18 Salisbury Rd. is located a few meters from the IC Grand Stanford but commands a more central location in Tsim Sha Tsui and it is closer to the major attractions and shopping streets. As a point of reference the famous Peninsula Hotel is located in front of it. Its lobby has one of the most dramatic views that I have seen at any hotel and it a major attraction in itself. Service has always been stellar and perfect in my experience.

The hotel was opened in 1980 as The Regent and in 2001 it was rebranded as Intercontinental. It will be closed for renovations in 2020 and re-open in 2021 as The Regent once again.

Summary:

The IC HK is a fantastic hotel with magnificent views and service. Personally I liked the more intimate feel of the IC Grand Stanford and its less opulent ambiance, but that is a personal preference and tastes are subjective.

Regardless of which property you choose you will be guaranteed a great experience.
